Youth Development Specialist – Haven After School

CFUM’s Haven after school program at Moulton Elementary offers K-5 program participants academic support, opportunities for creative self-expression and healthy self-development. CFUM Youth Development Specialists work in collaboration with another YDS and the rest of the teaching team to ensure children are fully engaged in academic and social /emotional growth programs during the school year so they are well prepared for success and advancement. This position will support an assigned age group to encourage and nurture reading and STEAM skills. The Youth Development Specialist is also responsible for classroom management, oversight of the program participants, ensuring the safety of the children, and delivery of program curriculum.
We’re looking for people who care about children and their success, are willing and able to work in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment, and are flexible enough to adapt to changing situations, while at the same time providing structure and safety.
Ideal candidates will have some childcare experience, preferably with school-age children. College courses or a degree in Elementary Education preferred.
Must be over 16 and able to meet HHS requirements as a Childcare Provider. Background check and fingerprints are required.

This is a part-time position during the DMPS school year. This role will typically be dedicated to program time from approximately 1:30 pm-5:45 pm Monday through Friday during the school year. Shifts for summer typically are 7:30am-4:30pm and 8:30am-5:30pm Monday through Friday.
Moulton Site Supervisor
Job Title: CFUM Moulton Site Supervisor
Job Type: Full-time; salaried
Reports to: Site Director
Salary: $40,000-$45,000

Position Overview: The Site Supervisor plays a crucial role in day-to-day operations of CFUM’s Haven and Awesome Summer Days programs. This role includes supervising youth and staff, developing curriculum and activities, engaging with parents and school staff at Moulton Elementary. This position works closely with the Site Director and after-school staff and is the primary contact in the absence of the Site Director. This individual will represent CFUM positively, professionally, and effectively with CFUM team members and external partners.

Program Development and Operations:
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and programming including themed weeks, daily activities, STEAM, physical fitness, etc.
- Work with Haven staff to ensure they have required curriculum, supplies, and support to deliver the designed curriculum/activities to youth on a daily basis
- Create and communicate the daily schedule with Haven staff
- Create relationships with community partners to provide clubs and unique program experiences
- Schedule field trips and transportation
- Primary contact and supervisor when site director is absent
- Strong communication with the school administration when needed
Child and Family Engagement:
- Ensure youth and families have a quality experience within CFUM’s out-of-school programs.
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with children and families on a daily basis
- Handle daily behavioral issues and parent meetings as needed
Staff Management:
- Ensure staff are following the schedule, protocol and procedures, and designed curriculum
- Create a positive team environment
Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Standard hours would be 9:30am-5:30pm. Flexibility to work from home or off-site when needed and when the site is not open. Occasionally, hours may vary and could include evenings and weekends, depending on programming activities. Some local travel might occur.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in child development, early childhood education, or related field preferred
- At least 3 years of experience working with youth or in a childcare setting
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Comfortable working with diverse youth and families
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A passion for the mission of CFUM and a desire to make a positive impact on the community.
- Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events and special programs.
