The mission of CFUM is to create a community that supports the potential of children, youth, and families through educational success, healthy living, and community engagement. CFUM carries out that mission through nutritional programs (Breakfast Club and Supper Club) and academic enrichment programs (Haven After School and Awesome Summer Days).

Breakfast Club is CFUM’s oldest program, beginning in 1968 to meet the needs of the River Bend Neighborhood. A year-round program, the purpose of the Breakfast Club is two-fold: 1) giving children a positive start to the learning day, and 2) providing early-morning childcare for working families whose workday begins before the start of school or summer programming. In addition to serving up pancakes, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, eggs, toast, juice and milk, there has also been countless lessons regarding respect, politeness, fair play, friendship, working through conflict, taking turns and so much more. The Breakfast Club offers a chance to read empowering books, bring imagination to life with Legos, create beautiful artwork or break bread with friends before starting the school day. By providing a safe and consistent environment, welcoming and nurturing relationships with adults and peers, a nutritious meal, and a variety of purposeful activities, CFUM meets the needs of our community. This academic year we are implementing the 7 Dimensions of Wellness into Breakfast Club, introducing activities such as yoga, exercise, mindfulness, and relaxation, among others. This will help prepare students for a successful day of learning.
