Success! A Year in Review
Even though we say goodbye to another year of school programming, at CFUM we’re forward focused on the planning, preparing and possibilities of the curriculum year ahead.
Looking back, we celebrated some amazing achievements during the school year. We welcomed 225 Kindergarten through fifth-grade students through our doors. We served a total of 42,075 balanced meals, mentored our youth and provided them the academic boosts they needed to propel them to higher reading levels and greater potential.
Our volunteers logged 10,000 hours to ensure children were consistently received by warm hearts and friendly, encouraging faces week after week.
Our staff welcomed Amara Huffine as the new director of development to help CFUM grow and expand.
We launched this blog this year to share with readers the happenings at CFUM. From projects and program roundups to stories about our CFUM families and children and news about our plans to expand, the CFUM blog is filled with great stories of success and the people who every day put the momentum behind our mission.
Overall, it was a big year!
It’s tradition at Eighth Street and College Avenue that we celebrate our successes. The end of the year is a marked occasion allowing us to do just that with a party and smiling faces.
This year, we celebrated graduating seven high school seniors from our gender-specific programming. Some of those students will advance to Iowa State University on a free tuition ride because of their academic accomplishments and participation in the ISU 4 U Program.
It’s so special to see our students prepare for the next chapter.
On the same day, we also hosted our Groundbreaking Celebration with over 200 neighbors, community friends, students, families, board members and city officials to dig in shovels and kick off the construction of a $7 million new facility which we expect will be ready for students and programs in the fall of 2019.
With the groundbreaking, we also launched right into our capital campaign to help raise the money to make this facility a reality.
I invite you to visit our Capital Campaign webpage and join the momentum of this new journey for CFUM. We need your help to create the successes year after year and your financial contributions are immensely appreciated.
