CFUM volunteers make our daily programs happen. We’re grateful for the dedication of our volunteers and want to help you and your family or organization make the most out of your time with us.

Did You Know?
- Volunteers from approximately 70 congregations and organizations in greater Des Moines take responsibility for providing, preparing, and serving the evening meals at the Supper Club five nights a week. In addition to those working to prepare the meals, it takes around six people to serve and clean up each evening.
- Individual volunteers and groups from colleges and corporations around the area help to serve breakfast and participate in activities with kids during the Breakfast Club, The Haven, Haven Too, Awesome Days and special events.
- Individuals with special talents and interests frequently make presentations, give performances, and teach lessons within our afternoon and summer programs.
Getting Involved
We welcome 160 students each day in our facilities. These programs couldn’t operate without the scores of volunteers. Haven Program Volunteer (Individuals)
2:40 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday throughout the school year
Volunteer Role: Interact with children in grades K-5 and assist staff with various program activities
Haven K-5 Grade Reading Mentor (Individuals or Groups)
2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m., Monday – Thursday throughout the school year
Volunteer Role: Commit to reading aloud to children in grades K-5 in small groups or one-on-one.
Awesome Days Program Volunteer
3:00p.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday summer break
Volunteer Role: Interact with children in grades K-5 and assist staff with various program activities

Supper Club
Great opportunity for individuals or groups to provide a meal or assist in serving
Cleaning and Organizing Guru
2-3 hour commitment between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Good activity for small or large groups
Volunteer Role: Organize and sort donations, maintain program supplies, clean designated areas.
Food Donor
Contribute snacks, breakfast items or casseroles for our programs.
Back-to-School Fair Volunteer
Event occurs the night before Des Moines Public School’s first day of school.
Volunteer Role: Organize donations, volunteer at the fair, or donate $20 for school supplies for one Moulton child.
Fall Festival
Event is in October around Halloween. An evening of games, activities and trick or treating in our neighborhood.
Volunteer Role: Run a game, donate candy or assist in supervising children throughout the event
End-of-School-Year Celebration
Event celebrates the end of school with games, activities within the community.
